We partnered with Screenmedia to create a beautiful, cutting-edge and just plain cool new website.

Screenmedia are a BAFTA-award winning digital design practice working on the leading edge of multi-platform design and development across web, mobile and voice. Recently, they also picked up the prestigious Digital Agency of the Year Award at the 2017 Herald Scottish Digital Business Awards.

Why did Screenmedia want to do this work with CEO?
Screenmedia are avid supporters of creative industries in Scotland and think CEO play a great role in nurturing and enriching creative talent. It’s something we’re proud to be a part of too. We have also been collaborating with CEO for several years now, including designing and developing the previous iteration of their website, during which time we were neighbours in Osbourne Street’s South Block before CEO’s recent move down the road to BAaD.

What is unique about this new site?
When your brief is “it needs to be dead new and ground-breaking”, we knew we had our work cut out for us! However after interrogating the brief and running user journey workshop we came up with a bold vision which our design team translated into beautiful visual concepts, ideal for working with flexibly with a variety of content layouts. Built using Umbraco 7, the new site makes use of the latest web technologies, terrific for enhancing user experience and interaction. We also retained the same great visuals and functionality on smaller screens with a fully responsive design.

What excites you as a design-thinking practice about this website?
Simply put, the site has a fantastic graphical user interface (GUI) that helps make content sing! This includes typography, tone, and texture that dovetail with the flexible content block layout (text, media, and interactive content) for a rich and interactive experience.

The freedom CEO gave us to push ourselves was great.

What was tricky about creating the site?
We had an excellent project team working on the website and felt the design and development came together really well. As always however, as we are so keen to keep pushing the boundaries in our designs and development, staying within budget can occasionally be difficult, especially when developing a site we love.

How do you hope it will support CEO’s goal of supporting Scotland’s creatives to create, scale and grow a creative business?
CEO provide a great service to people starting out or working in creative industries. The site will act as a portal, both for people finding out about CEO and getting in touch; and also for finding resources, workshops, events, and networking opportunities. We’re also keen to see CEO showcase and feature emerging talents in Scotland’s creative industries across the site.

Thanks Screenmedia! We love it.
